Dr. Debrah Ann Custodio is a highly accomplished medical professional from Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines, with a passion for advancing emergency medicine and public health. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Velez College, Cebu, in 2007, and completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at Cebu Doctors’ University in 2011. Following her post-graduate internship at Chong Hua Hospital (2011–2012), Dr. Custodio underwent residency training in Emergency Medicine at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Quezon City (2015–2018). She became a Diplomate of the Philippine Board of Emergency Medicine in 2019 and a Fellow of the Philippine College of Emergency Medicine in 2021.
Dr. Custodio’s career spans academia, clinical practice, and healthcare administration. She served as a College Professor at Velez College, Cebu (2012–2013), and an Associate Professor at Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine (2012–2013). Her clinical roles include working as a Company Physician (2012–2013) and Medical Officer III at Cebu Provincial Hospital (2013–2014). Dr. Custodio made a significant impact in Emergency Medicine as the Head of the Department at Allegiant Regional Care Hospitals, Cebu (January 2019 – April 2022), and as an Affiliate Consultant for the Metropolitan ER Medicine Team Company (September 2019 – June 2021). She is currently a Medical Specialist at Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City (February 2021 – Present), and serves as an Affiliate Consultant at Davao Doctors’ Hospital (November 2022 – Present).
In terms of leadership, Dr. Custodio has held key roles, including Chief-of-Clinics at Lapu-Lapu City Hospital (July 2021 – December 2022) and Hospital Administrator (December 2022 – December 2024). She is deeply involved in medical education, serving as the Assistant Training Officer (January 2022 – December 2022) and Training Officer (January 2023 – Present) at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Southern Philippines Medical Center. Additionally, she provides primary and emergency care as a Consultant at Expertcare Medical Clinic and Laboratory (May 8, 2022 – Present).
Dr. Custodio is also dedicated to community service as a Board Member of the Philippine Red Cross (Lapu-Lapu City/Cordova Chapter) since January 2023. She is set to assume the role of Hospital Coordinator at MJ Santos Hospital, Butuan, starting in December 2024.
