Dr. Gerardo Hizon, MD, FAAFP, CAQSM, RMSK is a board-certified Family Physician with a subspeciality in Sports Medicine with a focus on MSK ultrasound. He attended UC San Diego for medical school and UC Irvine for Family Medicine Residency where he was the chief resident. Dr. Hizon helped create sports medicine fellowships at UCSD, UC Riverside and for SouthWest Healthcare(UHS). He works in primary care for Rancho Family Medical Group in Temecula, California and Dr. Hizon was a team physician for the San Diego Chargers (NFL) x 13 years. He has helped authors multiple publications and books with his Nudge Away Diabetes book going to #1 in Amazon in its class. As clinical faculty in Family Medicine Residency for both UHS and the Loma Linda Family Medicine Residencies and being past program director of Sports Medicine Fellowship for Southwest Healthcare he has stayed on the forefront of academic primary care medicine. He and his wife celebrate 41 years of marriage this year with four adult children and eight grandchildren. His son is in the second year of emergency medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
