Nowell Ona is a distinguished American Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with over thirty years of experience in advanced ultrasound imaging. A graduate of Hillsborough University College, where he studied under Michael Foss, a pioneer in ultrasonography, Nowell has consistently been at the forefront of his field.
As a co-pioneer in Tampa’s high-risk obstetric ultrasound research, fertility ultrasound research, and embryo transfer programs, Nowell has significantly advanced diagnostic capabilities in these areas. His expertise extends to emergency trauma sonography, including general and cardiac imaging, and he has contributed to the development of groundbreaking techniques such as the biopsy gun prototype and biopsy techniques for all organs.
Nowell’s clinical experience spans renowned institutions, including Tampa General County Hospital, Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and St. Paul University Hospital, where he has served as a radiologist consultant and instructor. A leader in innovation and patient care, he has shaped protocols and specialized in cardiovascular color Doppler, neuro-sonography, and endoscopic ultrasound.
