Dr. Raymond Rowan is an experienced General Practitioner with a special interest in musculoskeletal injuries, sports medicine, and primary care ultrasound. Over the years, he has developed expertise in musculoskeletal health, earning qualifications in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and Musculoskeletal Injection Therapy to enhance clinical practice. His commitment to continuous professional development has led him to complete a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Examination and Injury Management, as well as a Professional Diploma in Clinical Leadership. With a background spanning emergency medicine, pediatrics, and care of the elderly he bring a well-rounded approach to patient care.
He was part of the first cohort of GPs in Ireland to receive formal POCUS training for primary care and continue to advocate for its integration into everyday clinical practice. He regularly use POCUS in nursing homes and in care for the elderly, improving diagnostic accuracy and patient management for older adults. In addition to his clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education as a tutor for medical students and a supervisor for GP trainees and residents. He is excited to be working with GUSI to educate and encourage the use of POCUS in primary care in Ireland, helping to enhance diagnostic capabilities and patient care.
Beyond his medical expertise, he is an accomplished endurance athlete, competing in Ironman events while promoting injury prevention and rehabilitation. Through his clinical, educational, and athletic endeavors, He strive to drive innovation, excellence, and patient-centered care.
