GUSI POCUS Demonstration with UCD GP Trainees Course Description:

We’re excited to share that GUSI will be leading a POCUS demonstration session with GP trainees from the University College Dublin (UCD) General Practice Training Programme.

Happening on July 22nd at 10:00 AM in UCD Health Science Building, this event marks a special moment as we introduce POCUS to GP trainees in the Republic of Ireland for the very first time.

Yes, we welcome international participants. With backgrounds in global health, GUSI faculty have taught POCUS across Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and we currently support learners in over 120 countries worldwide. In alignment with our mission for health equity, GUSI adjusts pricing structure for resource-limited settings to improve access and impact.

Yes, for many courses we secure special group rates at nearby hotels. For example, our Portland courses include discounted rates at Residence Inn Portland Downtown/RiverPlace. We provide booking details, deadlines, and reservation links to registered participants. Course location details are provided to all registered learners in advance.

Yes, you will receive both CME credits (typically 13.5-16 hours depending on the specific course) and a certificate of completion. GUSI also provides a transcript with lessons completed and test scores. For residents, we provide residency directors with a template for minimum scanning competency based on AAFP curriculum guidelines.

No prior ultrasound experience is required. Our courses are designed for all experience levels, from complete beginners to those seeking to advance their skills. We recommend reviewing the “Scanning Technique” videos in your complimentary online course access before attending for an optimized learning experience.

Your registration includes all hands-on training sessions, expert instruction, course materials, and CME credits (typically 13.5-16 hours depending on the course). You also receive complimentary access to our online course content typically for 3 months post-course (valued at $309), which includes additional CME hours for other essential POCUS applications.

In the last two years, we have gone through a war with the post-Soviet academic community, which prohibits us from using ultrasound. With our FOCUS-POCUS team in Ukraine, we train family doctors, military medics, and paramedics in the basic protocols like FAST, BLUE, and RUSH [which are] needed during daily Russian bombing on the frontline. The videos are engaging, easy to follow, and filled with practical tips and advice on how to troubleshoot. GUSI provided exactly the training I needed to enable me to introduce POCUS to the group of community health workers I work with in rural Guatemala. Although I hadn’t touched an OB ultrasound in 25 years, the GUSI online and in-person OB course gave me the tools I needed. I successfully replicated their “Big 5” training in Guatemala, and every community health worker learned how to scan pregnant women for these critical findings. The most thrilling moment was when we discovered that one of the CHWs herself was 13 weeks pregnant—with twins! This wouldn’t have been possible without GUSI.
