Greg Wittenburg

I am a family physician and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Global Health at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. My professional interests include emergency and rural medicine, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and global and immigrant health. I currently serve as Clinical Team Lead for the AMPATH/MAPAS partnership with the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) in Puebla, Mexico, where I support community health programs focused on non-communicable disease management and help strengthen the institutional partnership between UT Austin and BUAP.

I went to undergrad and medical school at Creighton University before completing the Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency in Martinez, California, followed by a Rural Emergency Medicine Fellowship in Denver, Colorado. Prior to joining the University of Texas, I served as an emergency physician and Assistant Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at St. Catherine Hospitals in Dodge City and Garden City, Kansas.

Before medical school, I lived in Peru working in education and outreach with at-risk youth, and later served in a public health role with the Mexican Consulate. Outside of medicine, I enjoy cooking, hiking, baseball, and spending time with my wife, Allison, and our son, Will.
