Instructor
Dr. Ritah Nabwire is a medical doctor with a special interest in critical care and medical education, currently working in a county Emergency Department in Western Kenya. In her role, she combines clinical expertise with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and also leads the quality improvement team in her department. By integrating point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) into her daily clinical practice, she has contributed to improved patient outcomes and more efficient clinical decision-making.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Nabwire worked as a Resident Medical Officer at Kisumu Heart Centre from 2021 to 2023, where her passion for critical care medicine was further developed. She also completed formal training in echocardiography through a course offered by the Kenya Cardiac Society in collaboration with the American College of Cardiology (April 2023–August 2023).
In addition, she is a POCUS champion and actively advocates for POCUS education and capacity building among healthcare workers in Kenya. Through her experience in a resource-limited public healthcare setting, she recognizes the significant impact of empowering clinicians with POCUS knowledge and skills in improving healthcare delivery.
Dr. Nabwire is excited to work with GUSI to advance POCUS education and practice in Kenya.
