Shane Kinard

Shane Kinard, MD, FACP, practices hospital medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the academic center for Pennsylvania State Health in south central Pennsylvania. He is co-director for the Internal Medicine Residency Point of Care Ultrasound program, which offers weekly POCUS rounds on inpatients and bimonthly didactics on basic inpatient diagnostic ultrasound modalities as well as a “POCUS FOCUS” pathway for two residents annually seeking a more rigorous exposure. He uses POCUS primarily on the IM consult service for procedural guidance, but also for diagnostics for stable and unstable patients when responding to consults and the hospital rapid response team. He is an assistant director for the Medical Emergency Team, which coveres rapid responses and code blues outside the ICU setting. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling with his wife and twin sons, running, baking, and listening to audiobooks on a variety of topics.
