Dr. Eva Tovar Hirashima, MD, MPH, AEMUS-FPD is an Emergency Medicine physician with specialized fellowship training in Clinical Ultrasound and the co-creator of UPAndo Latinoamerica, a FOAMed platform offering Spanish-language POCUS education and resources that allow for asynchronous learning and learner-driven knowledge acquisition. Beyond the platform, Dr. Tovar Hirashima leads monthly hands-on POCUS sessions for prehospital personnel and residents from various specialties across Northern Mexico. To further reinforce training quality, she also conducts remote monthly QA sessions, providing continued support and enhancing skill development.
In 2023, she organized the first POCUS gamification event in Northern Mexico, establishing an annual tradition that fosters engagement and learning in a dynamic, competitive environment. Her overarching goal is to build local capacity and improve diagnostic capabilities in regions with limited access to POCUS training. Dr. Tovar Hirashima’s work reflects her commitment to advancing emergency care and making high-quality ultrasound education accessible to healthcare providers across Latin America.
