Sam Hwu, MD, FAAFP, CAQSM, RMSK is a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician with Providence Medical Group in the Portland, OR, area where he practices Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. He completed his Family Medicine training at Tufts University/Cambridge Health Alliance and then a Sports Medicine fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University – Fairfax Family Practice. While at Unity Health Care, an FQHC, in Washington, DC, he co-developed with Dr. Will Dixon a POCUS curriculum for the National Family Medicine Residency program. He has taught POCUS workshops for the DC Academy of Family Physicians chapter and at FMEC conferences. A unique and special opportunity to work in New Zealand truly shaped Dr. Hwu’s appreciation and love for POCUS, and he is excited to spread the POCUS excitement to all learners with the goal of improving patient care and the patient experience.
