Dr. Samuel Hatfield is a hospital medicine provider at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and board-certified in Internal Medicine. He has also received Point of Care Ultrasound for Hospital Medicine certification through SHM/CHEST. He began his journey in Ultrasound in residency in Houston, Texas, but realized its true potential as a clinical tool while working in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. He hopes through GUSI to help train clinicians in similar practice settings how to utilize this incredible tool to enhance their clinical practices

Dr. Samuel (Sam for short) is most experienced in using ultrasound in the inpatient setting for acutely ill patients. Still, he continues to find joy in expanding his skills in ultrasound in different areas. Ultrasound is one of his many academic and clinical interests, which include clinical education, QI, and implementation science.
