GUSI is partnering with Swedish Health to deliver an acclaimed in-person OB Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) experience, combining high-yield lectures with extensive hands-on scanning sessions using pregnant volunteer model patients in an inclusive, collaborative learning environment.
The course is taught by a multidisciplinary faculty of Family Medicine–OB, OB/GYN, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians who are both expert POCUS practitioners and passionate educators. Instruction is designed to be clinically practical and immediately applicable across diverse practice settings.
Participants will learn how to confidently identify and integrate the following OB ultrasound applications into clinical care:
-
Fetal presentation
-
Fetal number
-
Amniotic fluid assessment
-
Placental location
-
Fetal heart rate
The course also builds hands-on proficiency in:
-
First-trimester pregnancy dating and troubleshooting
-
Basic second- and third-trimester dating with biometry
-
Ectopic pregnancy evaluation
-
Ultrasound-guided IUD care
-
Performing a biophysical profile
This 8 CME course follows a flipped classroom model, prioritizing hands-on scanning through low instructor-to-learner and learner-to-ultrasound ratios. Participants receive access to GUSI’s online longitudinal OB POCUS curriculum, providing additional learning and CME opportunities beyond the in-person experience.
GUSI faculty recommend reviewing the “Scanning Technique” videos within each module as minimum preparation prior to attending the course.
