POCUS Course – Flipped Classroom Model Course Description:

The POCUS Course – Flipped Classroom Model is designed to provide healthcare professionals with a comprehensive and practical approach to ultrasound training.

📅 Course Date & Location

  • Date: Saturday, October 25, 2025

  • Location: Florence, Fimmg Via Baracca 209

  • Duration: 7 hours total (6 accredited training hours + breaks)

 

👨‍🏫 Expert Instruction & Small Groups
Led by six experienced instructors, participants are divided into small groups (4 per station) for personalized, hands-on learning. Each instructor specializes in one of the following anatomical districts:

  • Musculoskeletal Knee

  • Musculoskeletal Shoulder

  • Bladder / Kidney

  • Gallbladder

  • Abdominal Aorta

  • Thorax / Lung

 

🔁 Flipped Classroom Approach

  • Pre-course phase: Participants receive videos, slides, and quizzes for self-directed study before the course.

  • In-person training: The day includes a theoretical recap, two hands-on cycles at six different ultrasound stations, and a final plenary discussion.

No prior ultrasound experience is required. Our courses are designed for all experience levels, from complete beginners to those seeking to advance their skills. We recommend reviewing the “Scanning Technique” videos in your complimentary online course access before attending for an optimized learning experience.

Yes, you will receive both CME credits (typically 13.5-16 hours depending on the specific course) and a certificate of completion. GUSI also provides a transcript with lessons completed and test scores. For residents, we provide residency directors with a template for minimum scanning competency based on AAFP curriculum guidelines.
