POCUS for Acute Presentations in Primary Care Course Description:
Join us for an interactive, hands-on study day in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), designed for doctors in training, GPs, and consultants who want to sharpen their bedside diagnostic skills. Through focused lectures, live scanning sessions, and case-based discussions, you will gain practical experience in lung, abdominal, vascular, and cardiac ultrasound. This CPD-accredited course (6 credits) will show you how POCUS can transform acute presentations in primary care and beyond—improving accuracy, saving time, and enhancing patient outcomes.
By the end of this CPD-accredited study day (6 points CPD), participants will understand the principles and evidence supporting POCUS in primary and acute care, develop practical skills in focused lung, gallbladder, renal, AAA, DVT, and basic echocardiography scanning, and apply these techniques to acute clinical presentations. They will be able to integrate POCUS findings into decision-making at the bedside, improve diagnostic accuracy and patient pathways, and recognise the logistics and limitations of using ultrasound in everyday GP and acute medicine practice.
