Michael Lintner-Rivera

Dr. Michael Lintner-Rivera is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Critical Care and Ryan White Center for Infectious Diseases and Global Health. He is a pediatric critical care physician and ultrasound educator. His research focuses on the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and other non-invasive monitoring tools to characterize hemodynamics and organ dysfunction in critically ill children. His work includes ultrasound-based investigations of acute kidney injury and severe malaria in sub-Saharan Africa, with ongoing collaborative research in Uganda. He is particularly interested in hemodynamic phenotyping and the integration of ultrasound into pediatric critical care education and global health practice.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he also completed a combined Internal Medicine–Pediatrics residency. He subsequently completed fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, a critical care ultrasound fellowship at Western University in London, Ontario, and a pediatric critical care global health fellowship in Blantyre, Malawi.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys traveling with his family and coaching his children’s softball and baseball teams.
