    • Point-of-Care Ultrasound Study Day Course Description:

    This one-day Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) study day, delivered by the Global Ultrasound Institute (GUSI), gives healthcare professionals the practical ultrasound skills to make faster, more confident clinical decisions — right at the bedside.

    Led by Dr P. Daza-Ramirez, Education Director at GUSI, Educational Supervisor for GP Vocational Training Scheme at HEE (Cornwall), and Former Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Exeter Medical School, this course brings together expert instruction in a focused, accessible format designed for busy clinicians.

    Whether you are an F1/F2 doctor taking your first steps with ultrasound, a Specialty Trainee looking to sharpen your scanning skills, or an experienced GP or Consultant seeking structured CPD, this study day provides a practical and evidence-based learning experience.

    No prior ultrasound experience is required. Our courses are designed for all experience levels, from complete beginners to those seeking to advance their skills. We recommend reviewing the “Scanning Technique” videos in your complimentary online course access before attending for an optimized learning experience.

    Yes, you will receive both CME credits (typically 13.5-16 hours depending on the specific course) and a certificate of completion. GUSI also provides a transcript with lessons completed and test scores. For residents, we provide residency directors with a template for minimum scanning competency based on AAFP curriculum guidelines.

    GUSI provided exactly the training I needed to enable me to introduce POCUS to the group of community health workers I work with in rural Guatemala. Although I hadn’t touched an OB ultrasound in 25 years, the GUSI online and in-person OB course gave me the tools I needed. I successfully replicated their “Big 5” training in Guatemala, and every community health worker learned how to scan pregnant women for these critical findings. The most thrilling moment was when we discovered that one of the CHWs herself was 13 weeks pregnant—with twins! This wouldn’t have been possible without GUSI.
