    • Point-of-Care Ultrasound Study Day Course Description:

    GUSI’s Point-of-Care Ultrasound Study Day is a one-day, hands-on workshop designed for doctors in training, GPs, and consultants who want to develop accurate diagnostic skills at the bedside using Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). The course covers five core clinical applications: lung, abdomen, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), vascular access, and FAST scanning.

    The day begins with foundational ultrasound physics before moving through a structured sequence of image acquisition sessions across each application area, followed by seven dedicated practical hands-on sessions in the afternoon and morning. The day concludes with a case-based review and a Q&A session to consolidate learning.

    This course is accredited by FAMUS (Focused Acute Medicine Ultrasound), and its credits are widely recognized throughout the UK. The course director is a certified SAM POCUS supervisor, and the images obtained during the course may contribute to the supervised scan requirements needed for FAMUS accreditation.

    At registration, participants also gain one year of access to online ultrasound educational materials, extending learning well beyond the study day itself.

  • No prior ultrasound experience is required. Our courses are designed for all experience levels, from complete beginners to those seeking to advance their skills. We recommend reviewing the “Scanning Technique” videos in your complimentary online course access before attending for an optimized learning experience.

  • Your registration includes all hands-on training sessions, expert instruction, course materials, and CME credits (typically 13.5-16 hours depending on the course).     The videos are short, yet very organized and understandable. The tips for effective image acquisition are extremely helpful. The pathology image library brings it all together.
