Derick Koech is a dedicated and skilled Diagnostic Radiographer, Sonographer, and Cardiac Sonographer with over three years of clinical experience. He graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Radiography from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

He has a strong interest in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), ultrasound education, and the use of technology to enhance clinical decision-making and patient care. He is passionate about expanding the use of ultrasound as a practical, accessible, and valuable tool for timely diagnosis, particularly in resource-limited settings.

Derick currently serves as the Lead Radiographer and Sonographer at Better Living Hospital and as an Obstetric and Gynecological Sonographer at Haven Hospital Ruai. He is competent in performing and interpreting a broad range of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, obstetric and gynecological, small-parts, musculoskeletal, vascular Doppler studies including DVT assessment, and echocardiography.

As a POCUS Instructor, Derick is passionate about hands-on ultrasound education and empowering healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to integrate POCUS into everyday clinical practice. He is committed to continuous professional development and is particularly interested in the intersection of POCUS, medical imaging, technology, and artificial intelligence. His goal is to contribute to the growth of POCUS and ultrasound education in Kenya and help improve access to timely, high-quality patient care.
