Scan sprints are a didactic learning exercise for POCUS enablement modeled after Dr. Mena Ramos and Dr. Kevin Bergman by Jori Enfield in the GUSI MedConnect program. Scan sprints involve training student models to table trainers, as they progress towards teaching events. This process involves scan demonstration to the learner, then the learner practices the scan with verbal instruction of the trainer. Verbal guidance is encouraged during the exercise to ensure the new learners maximize their hands-on experience during the Scan Sprint. This provides an increased depth of understanding, and improved interpretation skills throughout the learning experience, and gives them guided opportunities for basic trouble shooting as well.
