Global Ultrasound Institute (GUSI)is an online, longitudinal training platform for Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) with high-yield, clinically relevant didactic videos and evaluation. Frequently Asked Questions What is GUSI?  GUSI is a comprehensive online learning platform created to train physicians and other medical providers in the clinical application of point of care ultrasound (POCUS) through didactics, evaluation, and tracking.   How much does it cost?  Empowerment and health equity are the heart of GUSI’s core values.  As such, GUSI’s mission is to make the best quality POCUS training affordable and accessible for clinicians worldwide.  Price structure varies based on institution, practice setting, and number of participants. What medical specialties can apply to the program?  GUSI founders are family doctors who have trained hundreds of physicians in various medical specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, OB, as well as emergency medicine.  Any clinician of any specialty is eligible to apply. What if I am not a doctor, can I train with GUSI?  Yes.  We believe that POCUS is the most revolutionary addition to the physical exam since the advent of the stethoscope.  Therefore, all medical personnel who perform a physical exam can benefit from GUSI training and are eligible to apply.  This includes nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, clinical officers, physical therapists, paramedics, and EMTs.  Do you accept applicants from outside of the United States?  Yes.  With backgrounds in global health, GUSI founders have taught POCUS in Africa, Asia, and South America.  In alignment with GUSI’s mission for health equity and empowerment, pricing structure varies for resource limited  settings. Click (here) to learn more.   What does the GUSI curriculum entail?  GUSI’s curriculum is geared towards taking the medical provider from little to no POCUS knowledge to a level of mastery for any clinical setting. How much time is required to do GUSI?  The GUSI curriculum is a year long program designed to be done at a clinician’s own pace and remotely.  We approximate a total of 5-10 hours/weekly on average over the course of a year between reviewing didactics, test questions, and performing scans.   Will participants receive a certificate upon completion of the course?  GUSI provides a certificate of completion, transcript with lessons completed and % test scores.  For residency directors, GUSI also provides a template for minimum scanning requirements for competency as dictated by the American Academy of Family Physicians curriculum guidelines.
