Tricuspid stenosis

Tricuspid stenosis, in cardiac ultrasound, refers to the narrowing of the tricuspid valve opening, obstructing blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle. This rare valvular heart disease can lead to increased right atrial pressure and systemic venous congestion, often caused by rheumatic fever or congenital abnormalities. Early diagnosis via echocardiography is crucial for effective management.

Ultrasound plays a vital role in identifying and assessing tricuspid stenosis, allowing visualization of thickened valve leaflets, restricted motion, and reduced blood flow velocity across the valve. Doppler ultrasound helps quantify the severity of the stenosis and its hemodynamic impact, guiding treatment strategies to alleviate symptoms and prevent complications.
